Trauma-informed Therapy

A trauma-informed therapy is an approach to healing that recognizes how past trauma can shape the way a person feels, reacts, and experiences life β€” even long after the original event.

For this reason, all sessions are comprehensive and thoughtfully structured. They involve understanding, recognizing, and responding to the effects of all types of trauma. The main goals throughout each session are self-regulation, grounding, and gentle integration of emotions and memories.

It’s important to understand that trauma affects the body, mind, and nervous system, and true healing must address all of these levels.

At its core, trauma-informed therapy is built on five key principles:

SAFETY: Creating an environment (physical and emotional) where the breather feels secure and respected.

TRUSTWORTHINESS & TRANSPARENCY: Being honest, clear, and consistent in all interactions.

CHOICE: Allowing the breather to have control over their own healing process.

COLLABORATION: Working with the breather, not on them; healing happens in partnership.

EMPOWERMENT: Focusing on strengths and helping the breather rebuild a sense of confidence and self-agency.
